There’s a lot to know about publishing a book.

Where should I publish? Do I need an ISBN? How long does it take to copyright my work? Do I need to be on Kobo? Should I make a hardcover? What’s my trim size? Is a Kirkus review worth it? How does Kindle Unlimited work? How do I distribute my ARCs? How much does it cost? Can I do it all myself? Should I?

I learned it all the hard way. You don’t have to.

What you get

When I started out as an independent author, I had no idea what I was doing. I quit my tech job with a manuscript and a dream, and quickly got a crash course in how things work. I researched everything from platform marketshare to where it pays to spend money. Along the way, I made a lot of mistakes and wasted a lot of money. But I got myself to the point where I can publish my own books as fast as I can write them, without spending any more money.

Yes, you could do that yourself. All the information is out there. But it’s buried in a ton of misinformation and a lot of people trying to take advantage of new authors. (Hint: Anyone who promises you book sales is not on your side.)

If you have the right tools and you know how to use them, you can get your books out into the world for little to no expense. You just have to know how.

I can teach you all of that - what files you need, what goes into them, how to generate them, upload them, and update them, how to read your reports and what they do and don’t tell you.

We’ll sit down for a 2-hour Zoom session, where I’ll answer your questions and walk through everything you need to know about how things work, including screenshares of my own setup, and a copy of my upcoming book, Skip the Pitch: An Author’s Guide to Independent Publishing. If you have any more questions after our session, you can email me.

Pricing: $200 for a 2-hour Zoom session.

Note: This doesn’t include marketing. If I knew how to effectively market books, I wouldn’t be freelancing.
